Spirit Clock Dial. New York: Martinka & Co., ca. 1900. 1900's Original Spirit Clock Dial New York: Martinka & Co. This is an original magic trick owned and used by a 1930s magician. The Spirit Clock Dial is a classic stage effect that dates to the 19th century and remained popular into the early 20th century, but is seldom seen today. In this spiritualistic feat, a number from 1 to 12 – merely thought of by an audience member – is divined by the spirits when the freely spinning clock hand mysteriously slows and stops on the spectator’s number. Spirit Clock Dial. California: ca. 1900. Glass clock dial with plated metal spinning hand that stops on thought-of numbers, answers questions, or reveals the names of chosen cards. Plated pointer and hanging ring, with reverse-painted numbers in gold on glass dial. Diameter 14”. Includes the “Kellar Addition,” which allows an additional level of control not available with other versions. This is a large Sprit Clock from 1900, with etched engraved numbers on glass clock. The wood travel box has padding inside. Inside is padded and good. The clock works great. However, it can be a little knacky (you have to practice with it if using it in performance to get the feel and workings of it, it's from 1900!) Otherwise it is very very easy to work and perform. It is equiped with a special "travel pin" to set your hand on. Therefore it is removable, and is placed on the clock when using it for performance. Removed for storage so it does not break. It is a unique system and in my opinion brilliant! I have used a lot of vintage Spirit Clocks and even the modern one's. They always have the "Hand Pin" attached to the clock! Makes it more difficult for transport and storage! This is a very cool rare piece of magic history. From the estate of a magic & circus collection! It has been stored in a climate controled environment and has not been used or out of its wooden box for over 50 years! No Instructions! However very easy to do and if needed I will walk you through it to get up and running. Comes with a wooden storage box and the hard to find stand. Comes with the pointer and pin. LOOK AT THE PICTURES CAREFULLY! THERE IS A CRACK IN THE GLASS ON THE UPPER LEFT ELEVEN O'CLOCK POSITION. IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE WORKING OF THE CLOCK! I LIKE THE WAY THE PATINA IS! I WOULD COME UP WITH A GREAT STORY ABOUT HOW THE SPIRITS THAT WERE SUMMONED CRACKED THE CLOCK ETC. GET CREATIVE! IT MAKES FOR A GREAT STORYLINE! THE GLASS IS OTHERWIS VERY CLEAN! NO SCRATCHES! THE NUMBERS LOOK GREAT AND THE OVERALL IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE! VERY RARE! HARD TO FIND COLLECTABLE AND VERY USEABLE FOR YOUR NEXT SHOW! THESE SELDOME COME UP FOR SALE!
